Servicing and certification to BS5266
Are you and your company compliant with the regulations around emergency lighting and evacuation procedures in the workplace?
Building owners and managers have an obligation to protect people and assets – there’s no room for compromise. Failure to take reasonable steps leaves businesses vulnerable not only to the catastrophic loss of people and property but financial, legal, operational and repetitional implications. Did you know, for instance, that by not being compliant, you run the risk of a fine or being imprisoned?
We recommend that all prospective purchasers of Emergency Lights ensure that the luminaires they purchase are supplied with photometric data and that the installing contractor issues a certificate at the end of the installation.
Emergency Lights should be tested once a year with a full duration test (typically 3 hours) and any fitting that fails to last the full duration should be repaired or replaced. There should also be an operational "flick" test once a month to ensure the luminaire works in emergency mode once the mains supply has been removed.
Lightning Safety Systems engineers provide full maintenance and testing of emergency lighting to help protect your buildings and, in the case of emergency, save lives.
There is a massive choice of emergency lights in the marketplace, a lot of which are not supplied with any photometric data. All emergency light fittings should be tested to prove the level of light they supply; from this test the manufacturer will issue a photometric data spacing table (see below) only using this guide can the installing contractor guarantee the installation will meet the lux level it was designed to be. Lightning Safety Systems only design and install emergency lighting using emergency lights supplied with photometric data.
